hunterjoe
How do I adjust the steering tension on a '90 Evinrude 25? I just bought it used and the steering is very loose making it a little bit of a bear to hold at higher speeds. I was told there's a bolt on the left side of the motor to tighten, but can't see it. Thanks!
boatfixer
Item number 65 is the friction screw.

crothmeier
im going to add to this because maybe this can help my problem, have a 89 evinrude 110hp, cousel that like hunterjoe said is a bear to hold at high speed. even lower speed, the motor wants to pull hard right. Friction screw was mentioned above, but then boatfixer said no friction screw on V-4. any suggestions for me to try?
marine_man
On a console you're at the mercy of your motor and steering cable. You can try and trim up, or adjust the torque tab on your motor the direction it wants to pull.marine_man
