eyeguy 54
Well it's my first year after these guys and I was able to get out on Sunday just after getting back from a quick visit out to ND. Set up at about 3:30. I set my blind up into the trees down a ways from last time. Since I guessed they would come from my left I set my decoy up about 15 yards to the right of the blind so if they came out and came towards the decoy and stopped short I'd be in a good spot. The plan worked! I did a short series of calls and just before 5:00, 2 toms came along the edge of the woods and sure enough they stopped right in front of me and fluffed up to impress my decoy. THWACK! 18 yard shot. 20 1/2 pound bird with about a 9 inch beard officially measured on an MSRD board. I had the mouth closed but not sure about the tail.
