Superior Hiking Trail

Recommended Posts

I cant seem to find a forum that this would fit in so this is the closest thing to it. I am trying to plan a little hiking trip for a buddy and I on the superior hiking trail. We have done a few trips in the boundary waters and are both well equiped for a backpacking trip. We want to spend 2 or 3 nights on the trail and are wondering what a good strech of trail would be to take?? We are both in good shape, and walk at a good clip so is 10 miles a day too much?? Also are we better off to drive two vehicles, or just double backat a halfway point?? Thanks and all input is welcome!!

I would recommend driving two vehicles or using there shuttle service if you are traveling from somewhere far away. They have a set schedule or I think you can also make special arrangments for different times. I think it is around 20 per person though. If you are in good shape you should be able to do 10 miles per day or more. Parts of the trail are pretty tough and others are a lot easier. How far you can go per day will most likely be reflected by how heavy your packs are. The castle danger to the end of the split rock river loop is a pretty nice area. County road 6 to manitou state park is another good option. I would also recommend doing the cook county road 1 to lutsen section.
