1997-2000 Mercury 50 hp 2-Stroke Outboard Troubles

Recommended Posts

When taking my boat out it starts hard and has been known to bog down where I have to squeeze the ball on the fuel line to get it to run smooth again. I am wondering if a good cleaning would solve this (carbs, fuel pump, fuel filter, etc) or if this a more serious problem. If I ran seafoam through it would that help? How long should I run the seafoam through the engine before I start seeing results? Thanks guys!

Is this something that just started to happen, or started to slowly develop over time?

It could be something as simple as a hole in the fuel line somewhere, a dirty carb that needs to be cleaned or a fuel pump that needs to be rebuilt.
