Yamaha oil ?

Rivernut

Question

Just got a new river rig over the weekend, new to me. '85 25hp Yamaha on it. First oil injected motor for me. It has oil in the reservoir that is at least 2 yrs. old. Should I drain and replace, or is it o.k. to run. It ran great on my test run. Thank's alot in advance.

i would change it as depending on where it was stored cold and heat ruin the viscocity of the oil just from sitting and a extreme in temps are not good for any oil

If it has a small inline filter, replace that as well and run one tank of premix 50:1 to make sure the oil injection works out any air pockets that may have gotten in the line when the filter was off. Not sure if Yama has a oil line filter but my Suzuki 25 did.
