I picked up a Solas from Soderblooms about a month ago and noticed a huge difference in my speed coming from out of the hole. I want to say mine was around 76 bucks? I only wish my 45hp would do 36 to 38mph....that's amazing.

Sounds a bit optomistic on the speed, but I'm glad you got it figured out.

If you don't mind, how much did that prop cost you?

It was 90 bucks shipped (I think may have been a few $$ less)

And yeah I think the speed is a bit optimistic, that is why I explained the little wheel sensor the sonar is using to calculate speed, also its mounted near a strake, so I don't trust it. I forgot the GPS again. maybe next weekend I will bring the gps with and get a real speed. I am thinking its around 32mph realistically, which is still plenty fast for my fishing boat.

It sounds like you found the right prop for that boat.

I did a little checking for a propeller/rpm speed calculator and with that motor, a 2:1 gearset, 15% slip, and a 12" prop you should be doing 26.6 mph at 5500 RPM and 29 mph at 6000 rpm (max rating). Sounds right about where you should be, and your holeshot sounds much better as well. Now go fishing!
