      Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

      Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

2004 F150 temperature control help

My outside temperature sensor recently went out. The outside temp either reads right on, off by a couple degrees or about 60-80 degrees warmer than it actually is outside. I have noticed that my climate control system has been wacky as well. It will only heat if I have it set at 90 and it seems like my AC isn't working properly. Back to my question, is my digital temperature control regulated by the outside temperature? I don't really need the external temperature, and plan on replacing it, but if this is causing my whole system to go crazy, I might have to replace it sooner. Any help would be great.

The outside air temp sensor is in the front off the truck. ie by the grille. the was issue with the blend doors for your heat and a/c. So no the outside temp sensor has nothing to do with your inside air temps.

What I would recommend is to pull the codes from the Eatc head first. If this is an intermittent concern, you may want to wait until the problem happens, then within a day or so, pull the codes out. There is a self test procedure you can do yourself to retrieve codes in the eatc system.

Step one, key on engine off

step 2 on the eatc head, push the Off and Defrost buttons at the same time, let up and within 2 seconds push the Auto button, some of the lights will show up for 20 seconds, then it will display a code if there are any. "OO OO" is pass!

Fishing tech, I know where the sensor is and I know that it is bad.

Thanks 4wanderingeyes! I will try pulling the code. What happens if I get anything other than "pass"? What would my next step be? It doesn't seem like the problem is intermittent. It has been doing this since my sensor went out and has been doing it ever since.

I tried your self test steps with no avail. It didn't do anything. Would there possibly be a different set of steps for a 2004 versus a different year?

Scott, I completed the steps from the manual that you sent to me. It looks like it didn't pull any codes as all the lights just lit up and stayed that way. It will work sometimes and others it has to be at 90 before it will heat. The AC seems like it isn't working and just blowing room temp air. Here is a picture of what came up after I completed the steps. Any suggestions?

Blend door motor and door.

With the a/c on is the compressor running? If so Blend door motor and possible the door with it.

I'm not sure if the compressor is actually running. It isn't just the AC, its the heat as well. I know that the AC worked just fine a couple weeks ago.

It sounds as though you may have a bad control head, when all of the lights light, it is entering the self test, but it doesnt finish it. At this point I think I would bring the truck in to have the dealer test the eatc system with their scan tool.

Thanks Scott, any idea on what a new EATC control head runs? Just curious, I have a full warranty with a $100 deductible, but would like to know before I bring it in. I think my tranny is going to so I would like to get everything done in one shot.

LakeDR, I have an 03 F150, with EATC, just this am the outside temp went to 108, and I didn't have any heat unless I put it on defrost. I unplugged the outside temp sensor and my heat worked as normal. So it appears if the outside temp is higher then what the temp setting on the controller is set at, it wont blow heat. Mine didn't have any codes in it either.

I haven't fixed it yet, but it looks like just a bad outside temp sensor will fix it. I hope

    • Yes the trout was biting also, we both brought home 5      
    • After hunting Archery only for the last 10 years their is nothing I would change. It is darn frustrating but that is what makes it so fun. 
    • Hope your trout fishing was as good as your turkey hunting. Beautiful morning, beautiful bird. Congrats.
    • I wouldn't count on open water for the opener just yet. As of Friday, there was  a good 24" of solid ice yet to melt.

    • It would be interesting to know what that bill will be if you don’t mind sharing.   I bought a used Ice Cabin several years ago and had the same issue.  The previous owner didn’t do the grease maintenance according to specs.  Once those things get behind it’s tough to correct.   I went through the whole heat it up/wiggle/pound/swear the things off both sides then did what your welding shop did.  Worked real nice after that.  Took a couple half days to complete though and thankfully I have the tools to do it.  I can’t tell you how long it will last though since I sold it not long after fixing it.     I did stress the importance of keeping up that grease to the new owner!   Glad you got yours taken care of.
    • I just run to my dealer and buy the Suzuki stuff. It's a little more pricey but I don't sweat the extra $5-$10 per year. It cost me $50 for 4L of oil and the filter. I did the lower unit in the fall so I don't remember the gear oil cost.   Mine is a 2009 DF90, so pretty similar. Make sure that when you grease all of the zerks to look in your manual. There is one that you won't see until you tilt your motor all the way up. There is also one below the shift linkage that you can't reach unless you take off the lower skirts on both sides. There's about 10-12 screws holding the skirt on both sides.   Also, be VERY careful when putting the skirt back on. I just did mine again last night and accidentally pinched an air hose near the bottom of the skirts. It cut the hose in half when I put the last screw in place!
