  1. Where to buy a GSP in the spring?

Great! This should get us started. Thanks, MN Angler
  2. Figured a topic change may help get more feedback? Hi all, My wife and I have decided we would like to get a GSP puppy in the spring. Our goal is to train this dog for upland birds mainly grouse and pheasants. We live just north of Anoka and are looking for advice on potential breeders to look into. Please let me know if there are any you would recommend as well as any you would stay away from. How does this typically work once I decide on a breeder? Will we need to get our name on a list to reserve a dog from a particular litter? Preferences on male or female? We are undecided if we will train ourselves so please give me your opinions on the difficulty of this as well as a trainer you may recommend. Thanks in advance for all of the help. MN Angler

  7. 2011 Archery Log

Hunted Saturday morning by myself and the morning began with two samll bucks walking within fifteen yards right past my stand. Then a fawn came in and hung around my stand for probably an hour just picking through the woods for food. Around eight thirty a nice big doe is walking right down the trail heading for one of my shooting lanes. She stops ten feet short slowly turns around and heads back the way she came from. A pretty good first sit if you ask me. Saturday evening my wife joined me for her first time ever bow hunting. We were set up a hundred yards apart on the same well travelled deer trail. Right away a forky walks right past me and I just watch as it heads straight to where my wife is sitting. A half hour or so later I hear something approaching from behind me and it's a big doe. She steps out into one of my lanes and I let an arrow fly and believe I made a great shot. The odd thing is she runs twenty yards stops and slowly walks into the woods. A half hour later I get a call from my ecstatic wife saying she just shot a nice doe. I meet her by her stand and am excited myself because I'm also pretty sure I shot a good doe as well. Turns out the forky walked right by her but she got buck fever and shot right over his back. We track her doe and find it laying 50 yards away exchange hugs and high fives and get on the trail of my deer. Mine ran only twenty yards, she was laying ten feet in the woods where I saw her enter. I hunt with my bow for two years and don't even get a shot at something and she sits for three hours for her very first time and gets two shot opportunities connecting on one. Haha she sure is lucky. An awesome way to begin the hunting season with my Wifes first deer with a bow and our first double. MN Angler

  13. Pulling shack with ATV

Thanks all I will eventually make one myself. Ryan P I believe you are right about the ATV test luckily I was born in 85 so I just made the cut off. ATV is licensed as well so it looks like I'm good to go. MN Angler
  14. Pulling shack with ATV

I recently purchased an ATV and am planning on using it ice fishing this winter. I'm planning on pulling my Clam Youkon behind it and was wondering the regulations that need to be followed when doing this? I have seen guys with tow bars and have also seen guys just using rope to tow their shacks. I was unable to locate anything in the 2010 fishing regulations or the OHV regulations. I'm sure it's in there somewhere however, I know someone on this site has the answer. Thanks MN Angler
  15. Snowshoe Hares

The Duluth area has a ton of them as well. We were up a couple weekends before deer opener to get stands/shooting lanes ready and saw quite a few. We went out one day to try and get a few and ended up with five for the weekend. I have never tried them before and found out they are great. We may go out a couple more times if I make it up for anymore bow hunting. MN Angler
