  1. Teen Vehicle

Looking for any advice on a vehicle for my daughter. She would like a small SUV like a Rav4 or Saturn Vue. I would also like to add AWD in case "dad" needed it to tow the boat to the cabin. Looking to spend under $5000. I've heard terrible things about the Nissans with the CVT system so ruling them out. I have always heard decent things about the Saturn. THanks!
  2. Power Raking

I'm wondering if it's the soil. I've been researching thatch buildup as I have a lot as well. We have mostly sand (I'm guessing Farmington is the same) and from what I've read, that soil lacks the microorganisms to "chew" up the thatch. Does anyone know what chemical can be put down to counteract that? I've tried putting lime down but that doesn't seem to help much. I do know I MUST raise up my mower and stop cutting so darn short, and mow way more frequently...
  3. Hail Damage Car

Anyone have any experience buying one of these? Most if not all have a salvage title so they are "dirt" cheap. I now have a new driver in the house and figured if I'm paying cash, I could get a really low mileage vehicle for under $9000. Thoughts? Thanks!!
  4. ACL??

She seems to be just fine. On Monday night, she was able to jump on the bed, couch etc... Run down the stairs in the morning and jump like normal playing tug-o-war. Last night we went out for a walk in the meadow and she was running like a bandit and trying to find every field mice possible. I'm sure I just jumped to immediate worry but it doesn't seem to be anything major. However the older I get and the older she gets this Minnesota Ice is for the birds...
  5. ACL??

Has anyone ever experienced an ACL injury in your dog? Last week my pointer was in full stride and hit a patch of ice and her rear leg "slipped" (gotta love the MN ice :)) and she let out a yelp. She continued on her trek through the cattails and woods and eventually stopped limping. Over the weekend she was fine and just now I went out to throw the ball and when she slowed/stopped to grab the ball she limped up again. Not sure if it's a hip or knee but will keep running or at least quick stops to a minimum. Thanks

  7. Led Bulbs

I agree 100% the original CAN lights are 12 years old and other than 2 have burnt out. So far that many new LED's have burned out.
  8. Led Bulbs

Standard lights for the house. More specifically the "CAN" lights. I bought a 4 pack at 'nards during the holidays for like $9.
  9. Led Bulbs

Does anyone have any technical knowledge on these. I've had 2 go bad after just 3 month of use?? Does it matter on price vs quality? Does it matter if they are constantly turned on and off? Thanks
  10. Bourbon and Whiskey

Huh, I would have thought an Alabama fan would drink nothing but good 'ol Busch Light!!
  11. Remember, he is originally from Alabama.
  12. In the 2 pages here I have yet to see any example of why YOU think players don't want to come here. All you've done is shot down every comment/option I've made. Do you really have nothing to add to this or just chest thumping about a team you're living vicariously through?
  13. None of those towns have a hockey program, or nba program like MN does. Could it be that kids see us as a hockey and some wrestling and less and less football, thus driving the desire to be on a football team less likely? Does Michigan and Sconnie have better weather, no, however according to the media we're constantly frozen over and freezing to death up here.
  14. http://www.rolltide.com/roster.aspx?path=football Looking at their roster, a large chunk is made up of kids from Alabama, Florida or Texas. The powerhouse locales of high school prep football. In all reality if you were a kid form those areas, would your really want to travel up to Minnesota, Wisconsin or even Iowa? In the Midwest we really don't have the large football following like they do in the south. Now hockey might be a different story. Keep in mind kids moving about the country is no different than adults looking for jobs. Most stay in a region because of family. Why go to school 1000 miles away when I can go to one that is 500 miles away??? We also don't have much for alumni to attempt to carry on some great legacy, like a Michigan or Ohio State. And speaking of Ohio State, Columbus's regional population is around 822,000 compared to the Minneapolis region of 3,500,000 and yet they seem to get talent. However what they do have is better weather and proximity to the southeast region. From what I've noticed all the big market gets you is inflated ticket prices.
  15. I'm guessing the U of MN has a far greater academic prowess than Alabama or most SEC colleges. Maybe we should look at academic a little more and less athletics. You mention the market how about Fortune 500 companies compared to Alabama or Louisiana? Due to the high academic standards and far flung students, maybe a growing number of students really don't give a rip about football, or sports in general...
