  1. Another help me chose an auger thread... SO frustrated

All I can say is that I have owned my Jiffy White Lightning for 9 years now...I am NOT the best at taking care of my stuff...and that Jiffy is BULLET PROOF! Best piece of machinery I have ever owned. Chipper blades rock (still using the originals). If you want to spend all the dough, I say go with a propane option...but if you want value, and reliable (IMO)...an older, slightly used Jiffy is king.
  2. Which Vexilar Do I Want?

FL 18 Genz Blue Box- $365 FL 18 Pro Pack II- $432 FL 18 Ultra Pack- $522 FL 20 Ultra Pack $560 All I was pointing out is the difference in price for the SAME vexilar. SOME people don't know that the FL part is what you need to focus on...just pointing out marketing smoke & mirrors. I meant no offense to anyone. I am just showing the best VALUE to get the same job done. I also think the FL 20+s LED looks sweet too, but not $200 more to upgrade sweet.
  3. Which Vexilar Do I Want?

Vexilar FL-18 on a Genz Blue Box is without a doubt the best vexilar you can buy, and the price is right for what you get. STAY AWAY from all of that pro pak bullspit. They charge extra dough for this fluff dump, and 99.4% of the money you spend is on the VEXILAR system...NOT the cute boxes and lights they attach to some of them to upsell uneducated buyers. You should be able to find one of these for sale NEW in the $360-$400 range...if you are paying more, then you are paying too much IMO. Fl-8 & 12 won't have the bottom zoom option (which is WHY you want the 18). Anything above an 18 works too, but why would you pay more for electronics when the cheaper option works the same? This is just my opinion, hope it helps, good luck with your purchase!
  4. Jiffy 70 Series Auger Question

Thanks for the advise guys...greatly appreciated! I was just going to hand auger this weekend...but with this cold snap I am guessing that the 5-6"s of ice + the 2-3 inches of slush on top = 9-10"s to drill...and I am too fat and old to hand auger through 10"s of ice
  5. Jiffy 70 Series Auger Question

Thanks Hawg. By chance does anyone know the size of the screw I need? I am hoping to swing by Ace at luch...and if someone knows size, it would save me a trip home first. THANKS AGAIN, this HSOforum ROCKS!
  6. Jiffy 70 Series Auger Question

Hey all. Last season I lost the screw that holds the power head to my blade. Does anyone know what this screw is called, and where I can get a replacement? I have an older Jiffy 70 Series. I also noticed that Jiffy offers a EZ Connect Collar Adapter...it looks sweet, but once again I don't know if the adapter would come with that screw...so I am still in the same boat to get my auger rolling. Thanks for any assistance regarding this...I want to punch some holes this weekend!
  7. Xmas Wishlist gifts under 25.00

An old camera flash to glow up your glow jigs is a great stocking stuffer if you don't have one...$15 or so bucks, and makes the lures glow like the SUN!
  8. Vexilar Fl 18 Instuctions

You are gonna LOVE IT! A lot of talk about best flashers out there, yada yada yada....Vexilar is HANDS DOWN the best IMO, and the FL-18 is still king in my world.
  9. Share your early ice business plan..

I am gonna focus on shallow water fishing for early ice this year. 6-12 FOW next to some structure of some kind.
  10. Clam Yukon TC

$450 for basically a NEW one is an OK deal...it isn't a smoking deal, just an OK one.
  11. Who's chubby has gotten them a Chubby?

Here is a link of a t-shirt I just ordered yesterday. LOVE THE CHUBBY!
  12. Who's chubby has gotten them a Chubby?

I fish almost exclusively with a Chubby Darter...LOVE IT! Glow Red #3 or #4. What I like about it is you can catch fish without baiting this lure...it is also great when you are scouting, because I can catch almost any species of fish with it. LOVE THE CHUB!
  13. Handheld GPS units?

For $10-12 bucks you can get the Navionics download for your smart phone......NO BRAINER for the money. Spending hundreds on a handheld just does not make sense with the technology you can get on you phone these days
