  1. I honestly didn't think that we were going to have enough ice on the 1st. Boy, I was wrong. I am happy to report that we have 8 inch of ice 1 1/2 inches of snow on Crow Lake and the surrounding portage lakes. We are using 4-wheelers and snow mobiles, portage lakes are possible to get to. Catching lake trout in 20-40 feet in mud. We are using 3 inch white or glow tubes. Catching crappies on LOTW using Shrum's landing going out to Cyclone. Havent been over to Whitefish Bay yet, but I do know that the ice is safe and not a problem getting on the ice. Look forward to seeing you on the hard water. Paul Trinkner
  2. Well we have been out crappie fishing on LOTW the last few days 12-12-2015. We have had some cold weather the past few days. I really believe we will be able to fish on Whitefish Bay on the lower end. But Crow Lake will not be ready until after the 1st of January. I will try to keep everyone informed. Hang tight and have a Merry Christmas. From all of us at Muskie Bay Resort Paul Trinkner
  3. 2-11-2015 LOTW,Whitefishbay,Crowlake fishing report

Ice condiitions are great, you can get just about anywhere on 4-wheelers. We are expecting 4-5 inches of snow tomorrow night March 25, which will make it perfect for getting to back lakes and for snowmobiles. I have to say trout fishing has been tough but it has to turn on sometime. Did well on LOTW catiching crappie, perch and walleye this past weekend. We have opening this up coming weekend March 26, so give us a call at 1-877-228-2076. [img:center]http://
  4. 3-17-2015 Trout photos from Crow Lake and Whitefish Bay which is only 2 miles from the lodge. We have plenty of ice, right now 4-wheelers are the best to get even to the portage lakes. You can drive your vechicle just about anywhere. Catching Lake Trout 45-50 feet we used Sebile Vibrato and White Tubes. Crappie has been really good on LOTW we are going to be icefishing for a while yet. Give us a call at 1-877-228-2076. See you on the hard water Paul Trinkner
  5. We experienced 4-5 inches of snow last night 2-10-2015. There is about 12-13 inches total snow on LOTW, Whitefishbay and Crow Lake. There will be more snow in your deep bays with some slush, so always be aware of where you stop your sled. There is about 20-24 inches of ice on the lakes, with the additional snow I would suggest using an extention on Whitefish Bay.There will be more snow in different areas because of drifting. Fishing hasn't been as successful as early January. One group did well off of steep rock in 70 feet depths. Others found fish in the mud flats in 20 feet. We are still using the same old lures as the past few years. 4inch white and glow tubes, the Sebile vibrato greenie is still doing well. If you want to try something new, I would look for anything that vibrates in pink glow for trout fishing. Crappie fishing has been really good this year, in town off of Gordies and at the private landing. If I find out any more details on where the trout are I will share that information. Caviar has been decent but smaller fish, Rowan and Whitefish have all been difficult to fish the past few weeks with fish at all different depths. I guess they call this fishing, I would be prepared to try anything and everything. I will do my best to help you out,the more successful you are makes us look good, so I am not holding back any information. Good Luck and I will see you on the hard water.

  8. Jan 1st started our first week of ice fishing. The lake trout on Crow Lake are in 50 feet suspended at 20-30 feet. Cannon glow tubes are working the best. There is enough snow, no slush can get just about anywhere. We have had groups go out to Rowan, Caviar, Cameron, Whitefish Bay and LOTW and the fishing has been great.
  9. 12- 27-2014 Jake and I going out to do some Pike/ Perch and Crappie fishing with the family today on LOTW. Jake and I went across Crow Lake yesterday with my snow machine 2 up and went to get Jake's 2 wheel drive 4 wheeler that he left out on Wicks during hunting season. Jake was able to do 55 across Crow, Pennisula Bay, no slush, plenty of snow to cool tracks. The least amount of ice I found was 8 inches. The portages are passable but rocks are showing could us more snow. I believe Jan 1st trout opener you could bring 4 wheelers forecast isnt showing snow. See you on the hard water. 1-877-228-2076 www.muskiebayresort.com
  10. We have been ice fishing on LOTW for crappies for the past week, for every drop a fish. I am at the Duluth Ice fishing Show this weekend. I am setup right at the entrance stop in and say hello. We are still taking reservations for January give us a call at 1-877-228-2076.
  11. Well it looks like we will be ice fishing for a while. Right now you can get around just about anywhere on the lakes. We have about 40 inches of ice on LOTW and about 2 feet of snow. The weather has gotten cold again so you can get around pretty easy. We have been back to Caviar, Rowan, Shingwak, Whitefish Bay and all over Crow Lake. Just be smart and stay on the path. We have openings for the next few weekends. Give us a call at 1-877-228-2076
  12. There is 25 inches of ice 15 inches of snow. They are doing well catching crappies in Sabaskong Bay in Nestor Falls. Yesterday 2 guys caught a minimum of 30 nice crappies. Trout fishing on Whitefish has been tougher, have caught a few nice fish around 55-65 feet using glow, pink pearl pepper tubes, there have been a lot of chasers, have picked up a few 2-4lb whitefish. Crow Lake at the being of the year around Emms Bay seemed to be doing the best. Lately it seems that we are doing better East. I believe that they have gone from mud to rock and they are in a transition stage. If you find the fish, you will catch them. Two guys went out to Rowan today, caught 5 and lost a few. They were using set lines with a minnow. They could have done better if they would have moved around more, instead of sitting in 1 place. There is only a few places that you will find slush. Our March dates are filling in quickly so give us a call. I hope to see you on the ice. 1-877-228-2076 www.muskiebayresort.com
  13. The start of trout fishing has been great. We have had some -40F weather and everyone caught some nice fish.
  14. Ice conditions on Crow Lake are excellent. There is 12-13 inches of ice with no slush and only 2-3 inches of hard packed snow. LOTW the ice road in Nestor Falls is open and ready to use. If you get off the ice road there are slush pockets. The conditions are getting better everyday, 12 inches of ice. Portages have about a foot and a half of snow in the bush. We have already started ice fishing crappies. Trout fishing opens on the first.
  15. Ice Fishing Show

I am going to be at the New Duluth Ice Fishing Show on December 13-15 and the Wausau Ice Fishing Show on December 13-15. Please come on out and say EH!!
