Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

  2. Have Lake Specific Forums Run Their Course?

Don’t have find my phone turned on or whatever your particular phone’s location service is and your photos shouldn’t be geo tagged. Sometimes when I get geo tagged text pics from others, I let them know. I agree with Eyeguy, we’ve slanted just about every fish catching possibility our way and the internet forums are just another one of those tools. But like a flasher for ice fishing, we’d hate to be without em anymore. Everybody wants to know what’s going on. But yeah, being careful with sensitive resources probably has led to less chat about specific lakes unless they’re the ones already being advertised on billboards.
  3. Have Lake Specific Forums Run Their Course?

A good way to wreck a lake is to put out "there is a hot bite" out on the internet.
  4. Ufatz, Rockport is rebuilding, but they have a looooong ways to go. That’s actually what took up a good portion of my season this year. Lotsa people still need help, and it just didn’t seem right to be out chasing ducks when I could be helping people rebuild their lives. They’ll still be there next year Yes there’s still clouds of redheads. They’re too easy to kill. Problem was, those puddles love to hang out in the shallow marshes, and with the lowest tide I’ve ever seen, they were dry all week. Makes hunting real tough cuz they spread out in the big bays and it’s real hard to narrow down any concentration of birds
  5. Do big bunches of redheads still hang out in the basin right in Rockport?:) And how is poor Rockport looking these days? It really took a beating from the big storm. Didn't ever get around to hunting the area but spent two or three winters there a few years back. Lots of good fishing and pleasant weather most of the time. BUT it can get chilly!! Glad you had fun; it's always nice to see flocks of ducks even if you don't actually get a shot at them.

  7. Have Lake Specific Forums Run Their Course?

info speed, electronics, titanium spring bobbers, custom rods, inline reels, faster augers, plastic baits, sharper hooks. fish dont stand a chance. Speed of info probably the biggest factor. Pics on sites are great but cant share specific location or even the lake unless its a beast of a lake. I just heard last week that sometimes cell phone pics can be investigated to find gps location if a guy is knowledgeable in how to do it. Blurr out the background might not work before long. I think these type sites can still be good for tips but gotta be careful with location info.
  8. Thermo switch to operate fan in fish house

I had same challange. Went with a 12v temperature relay switch. Heater/Fans in my DIY wheelhouse now functions just like my home or RV forced air furnance. It comes with a small heat sensing probe i mounted on my upper air duct than set the on/off temperature so fans runs/stops when heat kicks on/off. Provides perfect comfort for $15.00. https://www.walmart.com/ip/bayite-DC-12V-Fahrenheit-Digital-Temperature-Controller-10A-1-Relay-with-Sensor/585224840?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=12524&adid=22222222227093022211&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=t&wl3=213210114658&wl4=pla-345493512458&wl5=9019533&wl6=&wl7=9019476&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=117430032&wl11=online&wl12=585224840&wl13=&veh=sem Sensor under foil tape Took photo when furnace was off. Temp range -40 to 230 f. Spare probe to right of controller, copper tube is thermostat, black button is pilot iginter. Total set up with 4 speed auto fan switch.
  9. Anyone know what depth I should be looking for Walleye’s at? I’ve always went just south of the main city in bayport on the wi side. In 32-36fow seems to be a crappie spot. Any suggestions would be great.
  10. Quick ice locator holder.

Well, craapy wood work or not. Had a very good day with my son for our first ice fishing trip in 10 years or so and put a few Walleyes on the ice. Let a nice 25" go. Remember, it's not always what a box looks like. It's what you do with it!
  11. We could be riding the nsst

Listening to the weather ,,, It sounds like the snow is going to go east of the northern part of the state ,,, I may have to buy a Wisc trail permit and head east
  12. I used to watch lake forums very closely to hear the current chatter. I never fish any of those lakes anymore, but I'm still curious. Not to knock on any specific site, but it seems there is no longer any lake-specific chatter on the web. Five to ten years ago, those forums were on fire with tips, pictures, etc. Have they burned themselves out due to acceleration of info and subsequent mobbing, or what's the deal? A few weeks ago, even the DNR made comment that the speed of information has had an impact on fisheries. Curious what others think.

Nice win tonight, but my goodness! I hope they never wear those uniforms again!

  15. Haven’t really posted on here all year, but here goes. It was an absolutely terrible season for me. I work 14 days then I’m off 7 days, and my 7 days off fell just so that I was only able to get out twice in November and then 5 days last week. Thankfully, last week made up for it and we shot some incredible trophies including 9 cinnamon teal, several mottled ducks, tons of perfect teal and even a hen Goldie and hen can, which are really weird for the salt. It’s really been a ball figuring out these coastal waters for the last 4 seasons, and I’m still learning new stuff every time I go out
  16. I've hunted "A" a few times. This season has accounted for the easiest and hardest hunts for me to date. I've gone to hunting the middle seasons and find the birds more predictable. I've had some great hunts late season as well. My credo is hunt when you can....
  17. Looking for a 10in Mora blade cover

    Yes...yes it is.....way cheaper then a 10in Nils at $360.
  18. We could be riding the nsst

Sounds like a great time. Our day was ok as well, but different! First time Ice fishing with my son in about 10 years. Still got to use the sled but hope to hit the trails yet some where this winter.
  19. Fish House Build

Nice house. You got yourself a lake whitefish, not a tullibee (cisco). Downturned mouth is a dead giveaway.
  20. Just Food and Drink

    I could only wish......
  21. Just Food and Drink

Ooooooh this sounds good. Add some diced peppers and onions and you might have something...... Ummmm, maybe a Grain Belt instead. I had some iced tea in the picture. Hot sauce, yes but no ketchup! I try to avoid the toast for carbohydrate reasons.
  22. We could be riding the nsst

I finally got the new sled out Friday, palisade area, all trails were groomed, but not much for base. the best riding was in the ditch, and riding the river. 70 miles put on, and have to say, I am happy with the new sled.
  23. We could be riding the nsst

Great day today riding the NSST ,,, Freshly groomed trail,,,, comfortable temps ,,,, small group ,,,few other sleds on the trail,,,, good burger at the trestle ,,, 145 miles and no body aches ,,, life is good

Here are a few pictures of the little peanut aka TazMania. I got waaay behind on introducing him to birds and with work and the weather it was a slow start but once I finally got him on birds he really took off. He has an incredible nose and he is close working which for me and my family a$$ is a benefit. I was worried about going away from Springer's but I am not disappointed and love the cocker.
